Confluence of Historical and Industrial aspect Ahmednagar

Ahmednagar city is situated in Ahmednagar district which is the largest district in Maharastra state. It is situated in the central part of the state surrounded by the districts like Nashik Aurangabad, Beed, Osmanabad, Solapur and Thane. It is drained by the two tributaries of of Krishna River, Godavari and Bhima.
Located 120 km away from Pune, this is the historical place which got its name from its founder’s name Ahmed Shah Nizam Shah. It was annexed by Mughal and Marathas before finally merged by British in their empire in 1817. It is the land which has observed many great and historical people. The home of Sai Baba, Shirdi is situated in Ahmednagar district. During his confinement at Ahmednagar fort, Jawahar Lal Nehru had written “Discovery of India”.
Today Ahmednagar is being flourished with its Sugar Industries, Milk and Bank Co-operatives. It is the origination place of cooperative movement. There are 19 sugar industries are situated in the region. It has the biggest cricket stadium in Maharastra.
Ahmednagar is center of Indian Armoured Corps Centre & School (ACC&S) where the Training and recruitment for the Indian Army Armoured Corps takes place. It is the home of Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre (MIRC), the Vehicle Research and Development Establishment (VRDE) and the Controllerate of Quality Assurance Vehicles (CQAV). The city is known for the second-largest exhibition of military tanks in the world.
