AACN stands for American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, is an America based nonprofit association. It is the largest specialty nursing organization in the world. The rise of the AACN association took place in the year of 1969 and since, the association is growing with regularly frequency node. The headquarters of the company is situated in Aliso Viejo, California of America. Over 500,000 dedicated and educated nurses are working with the association who have the responsibility of caring critically ill patients. The main motive of the establishment of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses is only to cater well-defined health care system which has observed through patients and their families to set of actual requirements.
Initially, AACN was launched with the purpose to help well-educated nurses to enhance their practice proficiency, but later as time changed AACN is also changed and has acquired world's largest specialty nursing organization structure. The base of first intensive care units (ICUs) was placed in the year of 1950 with targeting the need for special areas in hospitals for critical situations or for critically ill patients. And in the year of 1960s, AACN introduced cardiac care units after increasing significant traffic. As time passed, the association has grown and become the world's largest specialty nursing organization.
In order to render monthly newsletters on updates, AACN publishes the clinical magazine for the practicing nurse and scientific research journal. Additionally, to boost up real-life performance, AACN has introduced single set of E-Learning programs, i.e. "The Preceptor Challenge" and "Promoting Excellence in Palliative and End of Life Care." These are good source learning essential skills, for practicing in a safe virtual environment.
