Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palika is abbreviated as BBMP which relates with all the work of the municipal governance of a particular area. The development of BBMP was started by nine people, who formed a Municipal Board as per the Improvement of Towns Act of 1850. On the other hand one another Municipal Board was created. Thus the two boards were functioning which were merged after independence and formed the Corporation of the City of Bangalore as per the Bangalore City Corporation Act. By developing many other services, the Corporation changed its name as BCC (Bangalore City Corporation), further BMP (Bangalore MahanagaraPalika) while the Bruhat in the name was adopted after the merger of BMP with 111 villages located around the city, seven City Municipal Council and TMC. This merger notification was issued by the Karnataka Government. Thus the BBMP was finally chosen name of the Municipal Governance.
