Dowry Deaths

With the past recent years we have been hearing about dowry cases and violence against women. But, knowingly and unknowingly we have now come across ‘bride burning’ trend which has been started by the Husband and his family.

When a couple gets married, they promise God to protect each other and spend life together with love and respect. They plan for their bright future. But, when all the plans take the shape of dowry and violence; the marriage is left with no value.

We have seen in movies and serials, how the mother-in-law leaves the gas open and waits for the new bride to enter the kitchen to prepare tea for the family. As soon the bride enters the kitchen, the mother-in-law locks the door from outside and when the bride lights the matchstick, the kitchen and the bride both are in flames.

There are still families who think of doing this heinous crime. Why a bride is never considered as the daughter of the house? Why the mother-in-law treats her as the daughter-in-law (bahu)? Is that a status symbol to dominate the daughter-in-law and boast in-front of the female kitty members?

Dowry burning is India is still an active crime; that’s why every now and then we come across so many burnt cases. Death of a bride untimely is a dowry death, except if she expires of a serious ailment or death during delivery. But, majority of the deaths are untimely.

Just see the audacity of the bridegroom’s family that after killing an innocent bride, they cry, howl and report to police of a cylinder blast in the kitchen which took the life of their daughter-in-law. Shameless, I must say!

Normally, people think let’s get our Son married and then later we can demand dowry. Due to this the girl’s parents are bound to fulfill the demands for the wellbeing and the happiness of their daughter.

But, if the first speech of demand is not snubbed and no action is taken, it keeps on increasing. Thus, they keep biting your nerves and veins and leaves you bankrupt and then at last killing your daughter and leaving your body without blood.

The world is surrounded by terrorism and India alone is surrounded by Dowry, Violence against Women, Female Foeticide and many other social problems.

I think there is a need of a female Taliban group, which will surely burn in rage and kill the Dowry seekers and those burning their brides for dowry.
