IRDA stands for Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India. It was established on 14 April, 1984 and the registered office of this company is located at Hyderabad. IRDA regulates all the insurance companies such as National Insurance Company Limited, United India Insurance Company Limited, New India Insurance Limited, Bajaj Allinace Life Insurance, HDFC Standard Life Insurance, Max Life Insurance, Reliance Life Insurance and Kotak Mahindra Insurance Limited. IRDA set up was under the act of 1999 to handle the all insurance companies of India. The mission of IRDA is to protect the interest of Policy holders, orderly growth and connected to incidental matters. IRDA provides lot of facilities to all the customers such as protect policy holder interest, Promoting Professional Organization insurance, Specifying Financial Reporting Norms, Regulating Investment of Policy Holders Funds, Maintenance of Solvency Margin of Insurance, Licensing Insurance Intermediaries, Registering and Regulating Insurance policy, Insurance Coverage of vulnerable section of society. Any changes regarding insurance policy, Interest rate decided by Insurance Regulatory And Development Authority of India. IRDA provides the life insurance, general Insurance, health Insurance policy to all the customers. IRDA regulates some other entities such as insurance broking, individual agents, corporate agents, third party administrators, referral providers, web aggregators, insurance repository services, insurance marketing firm etc.
