It is the main council which expertise in gives consulting service and managing the agricultural education and research in fisheries, horticulture and animal science around the country. It has more than 71 agriculture universities and 101 ICAR institutes over India. Some of its institutes, project directorates, deemed universities and national bureaus are National Dairy Research Institute Karnal, Indian Veterinary Research Institute Izatnagar, Indian Agriculture Research Institute New Delhi, Central Island Agricultural Research Institute Port Blair, Central Institute Brackishwater Aquaculture Chennai, Central Institute of Arid Horticulture Bikaner and many other. These are established in Kanpur, Varanasi, Patna, Hisar, Bikaner, Karnal, Shimla, Ludhiana, Bareilly, Pune, Solapur, Coimbatore, Goa, Kerala etc. The firm launched a vaccine, in the month of July 2006.
