Just Paint Them Up

Summer is right here at our doorstep and you all must be stocking up on your sun screens and creams and other summer beauty products. But, wait! Have a look inside your bag; something’s missing. Look carefully. While you have all the ingredients to sizzle up your fashion quotient this summer, you still have forgotten one of the most important items. Your nail polish!

How much we love these little bottles, filled with beautiful colors, which paint and light up our nails. But since, every season has its taste and every taste has something to do with the trends, just scroll down to see all about your prized color liquid, the nail color trends and of course some nail painting tips not to be skipped.

The nail paint is certainly NOT a ‘modern’ fashion tool. Although, it took time to come into its present state, the practice of coloring the nails goes back to the times of the Incas who decorated their nails with tiny eagle pictures. Initially, painting the nails was limited to painting them with varnish using a camel hair brush, but after the creation of automobile paint around 1920, colored nail paints were introduced. You might use nail paint to decorate and enhance the beauty of your hands, but during that time it was used to hide the grime and dirt underneath the nails (it still does!).

SUMMER TRENDS

Some nail polish trends are evergreen in styles that stay back to make new trends and fashion statements. Summers demand cool and calming colors that provide relief. Manicure can be a good option. French manicures were popular in the 1920s and 1930s and might have originated in the 18th century in Paris. They are designed to resemble natural nails and have natural pink or nude base with white tips.

If manicures aren’t your thing, then go for lemon shades, pink shades, Greens, Blues, Whites or may be Nudes. Summers are suppose to be an easy affair, so do not bother growing them long! Short nails are easy to maintain and you can spend that time on painting your nails with the latest, hottest colors this season!

NAIL CARE TIPS IN SUMMER

As much tempting it is to flaunt one’s nails this summer, caring for them is also equally important. While you are busy painting them with glossy shades, the sun and summer winds are also not free from their work, of causing detrimental effects to your fingernails and toes. And if your hand and feet don’t look good, then the beauty of the paint is not lightened up. Thus, it is necessary to take some precautions in order to glam up as well as protect one’s nails at the same time.

Check the following tips for healthy nails this season:

1. Hands often get tanned during summers due to the scorching heat. A solution for this is to soak them in warm water with a tablespoon of lemon juice. Keep them like this for ten minutes and then pat them dry. The tan will soon start to wear off.

2. For soft and strong nails, soak your nails in a mixture of almond oil and hot water. Pour 4 tablespoons of sweet almond oil in a bowl. Keep this bowl in another bowl of hot water and when the oil is warm, soak your nails in it for ten minutes. Remove the oil with a tissue.

3. Dab a few drops of olive oil on your nails and massage it. The massage gives a boost to blood circulation and the oil locks the moisture which leads to healthy and strong cuticles.

4. A cheap manicure and pedicure experience can be created at home by using a few articles. Grab coarse salt, sugar granules, a teaspoon of honey, and vitamin E oil off the shelf. Mix them well and rub the mixture onto your hands until the granules melt. It is beneficial for arthritic people, as the salt reduces swelling; honey nourishes the skin and vitamin E conditions the skin.

5. Preparation for anything is a must and nail paint is no exception. If your nails are dirty, oily, or covered with dirt, grime, or lotions, wash them thoroughly and apply a bit of nail remover. Your nails are now fresh to be painted.

6. If your nails are rough around the edges and have ridges in them, buff and file them.

7. Be careful while choosing your nail polish. The nail paint expires and applying an expired one will ruin your nail painting experience.

8. Summer is a tempting time to paint your nails but the weather is harsh on nails. The high temperature can cause color change and the paint to separate.

9. Apply a base coat and top coat. A base coat gives the polish a foundation and the top one seals it securely.

10. Let the polish dry for 5 to 10 minutes after and between applying the coats.

So, are you ready to have a scent- sensational summer? Go girl and grab your own nail shade.
