Not For Ourselves Alone

Ever heard of that feeble little voice inside your head that tells you that this is right and that is wrong? I’m pretty sure you have… then what went wrong? Why are we not listening to it?

In these days, when corruption has become an inevitable part of our lives, we have buried this voice, which was once popularly known as conscience, under the heavy stone of greed and lust for power. And believe it or not, we are all a part of this conspiracy of evil against good.

Whatever happened to humanity, selflessness and sacrifice? Whatever happened to the goodness that lies in every human’s heart? If it is still there then why are people suffering from poverty and abuse?

In today’s world there are people who have money to burn, and then there are people who burn themselves to earn a livelihood that isn’t even fit for an animal. Tears and painful cries for help fog my mind every time I think of the children who are working as labour in industries that could mutate their small and immature bodies and minds; of men and women who work 22 hours a day just to get one decent meal.

Just because we have it all doesn’t mean that we become oblivious to somebody else’s pain.

So wake up and look around you. Help the under privileged in every way you can. After all, God made so many of us so that we could help each other grow and be happy. Wipe the hot tears that blind the eyes of millions who don’t have anyone to do that for them. Listen to your conscience. It may be weak now, but you could make it grow stronger with time.
