District Bagpat is one of the districts of Uttar Pradesh which is located near the bank of river Yamuna.
It is situated 52km from Meerut city. Prior to become district it served as tehsil under Meerut. This city
holds a mythlogical significance also as it is believed to be established by the Pandavas.
The city was originally known as ‘Vyagprastha’ because of the population of tigers found many
centuries ago. Agrarian is the main economy of Baghpat. Wheat, paddy, sugarcane, pulses, potatoes and
maize are the primary crops of the region. Manufacturing and selling of sugar is also a occupation of
the people.
