Places to Visit Bijnor

Azampur: It is the village of Abul Fazzal and Faizi, two of the Akbar's Navratnas.

Daranagar:  It is said to be the site chosen by Mahatama Vidur for the protection of the wives and children who took part in the war of Mahabharata.

Ganj: It is the home of many ashrams and ancient temples.

Kanava Asharam: The ashram is located near Rawli town in wrecked conditions. According to the Kalidas’s great masterpiece "Abhigyan Shakuntalam", King Dushyant reached there while hunting and fell for Shakuntala at first sight.

Jahanabad:  It is located on the bank of river Ganga and just about 1 Km from Ganj.  Once this village was “riyasat” including around 101 villages during Mugal Period. It was a gift to the saint who cured Shanjhan’s wife from snake biting.

MANDAWAR KA MAHAL:  This palace was gift to Munshi Ali from Queen Victoria as he taught Urdu and Farsi to her in 1850.  There is a famous temple namely Galkha Devi at the distance of 8 KM away from this Mahal, it is believed that Lord Krishna kidnapped Rukmani who came to worship here.

NAJIBUDAULAH'S FORT:  Situated in Najibabad, this fort was built by "Gulam Kadir" a.k.a. 'Najibudaulah" during 18th Century after down fall of the Mughal Empire. This ancient fort still stands today. Later on it was the shelter of Sultana Dakoo in British period.

SENA KA DAWAR: 
It is the place from where Pandavas maintained their army. It is presently a village known as Saindwar .

Sita's Temple:  It is the place believed to be where Sita jumped into the tore of the earth. It is located one km from Nanore Village on Chandpur-Jalilpur road. There is a temple located on this place popularly known as "SITA MANDIR MATH” without any idol of Sita.

Vidur Kuti:
  It is said that Vidur spent rest of his life in this place. It is at the distance of 12 km from Bijnor.
