Overview Erode

Erode is the seventh largest city in the state of Tamilnadu located on the banks of Kaveri River. The city is well known for its nick name Turmeric City. The name of the city derived from the word Eera Odu, which means wet skulls. Erode was the part of historical Kongu Nadu and has been ruled at discrete times by the Medieval Cholas, Cheras, Vijayanagar Empire, Carnatic Kingdom, Kingdom of Mysore, Madurai Nayaks and the British. The city is the hub of varied agricultural and textile products and also the major producer of knitwear and handloom.
