Dances Gwalior

Dances of Gwalior show the strong interaction of people for their culture and traditions.

Ahiri Dance:
It is the dance of the cattle herders. It is very amusing to watch dancers in colorful attires with ornaments.

Yadav Dance:
It is performed on the Diwali occasion. After the Luxmi Pooja, the dance is at its peak.

Dul-Dul Ghori Dance:

The male members perform this dance on the occasion of marriage with the beats of folk song. A hollow replica of ghori (mare) is prepared of bamboo sticks. Then the dancer stands in the hollow place and imitates the movements of mare.

Lur Dance of Saharias:
Lur dance is performed on the occasion of marriage. It starts from the day of haldi (pasting of body with turmeric powder) till the arrival of baraat (procession of bridegroom towards bride’s home).

Lehngi Dance
It is the male dance performed with the batons which they strike with each other in dance.
