Hisar or Banwali

Hisar is one of the administrative districts of Haryana. The word Hissar means Fortress in Turkish language. It is believed that the city have been founded by Firoz Shah Tuglaq; the great ruler. Hisar district embody of four tehsils and three sub- tehsils.

 

Talking about the today scenario, Hisar is the main cotton and steel industry of India. The place is also famous for its educational institutes like Choudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University and Guru Jambheshwar University.

Hisar has its historical relevance as the place is assumed to be connected with ancient Vedic tribes. The famous place to visit here is the palace of Firoz Shah Tuglaq and the fort built by him. The palace has its own charm; it has an underground chamber and the mosque.

 

Other places of interest can be Lat Ki Masjid, The Humayun’s mosque, Jahaz Kothi and the Gujri Mahal. Places near Hisar like Banavali, Kunal and Agroha are still containing some ruins of Harappan civilization.

For people having historical and religious bent of mind, Hisar is the place to visit.
