Overview Kollam

Kollam is formerly known as Desingandu and it is one of the old seaport cities of Kerala. It is situated on the banks of Ashtamudi Lake and best known for the title “God’s Own Country”. From the days of Romans and Phoenicians the city had a sustained commercial reputation. Kollam is also the capital of Kerala’s cashew industry and the seventh largest city of the district.
