Places to Visit Saharanpur

The Saharanpur Botanic Garden
It is also known as the Company Garden is the oldest existing garden in India. Its history boasts off  before 1750. It was established by a local chief as a leisure park. Then it was known as Farhat Baksh. In 1817, it came under control of the East India Company. This garden has contributed much in exploring the field of botany. This green garden is the home of many varieties of flowers and plants.

Ambedkar Park
The Ambedkar Park has been founded by Chief Minister Mayawati, is also worth a visit when in Saharanpur.

Shakti Peeth Shakumbari
This abode of the Devi is situated in Jasmaur village located 40 km from Saharanpur. There are two temples in this place which are dedicated to Devi  Shakumbhri and Bhairav who is supposed to be the gaurd of Devi Shakumbhri. Bhairav temple is the one kilometer  away from  from the Shakumbhri temple. It is said that Devi had killed the demon king Mahishasur at this place. According to the myths, Devi Shakumbhri had performed a meditation for 100 years with the consumption of vegetarian food only. During her meditation many saints paid their visit to Devi. They were welcomed with vegetarian meal. Another temple dedicated to this Devi Shakumbari is near the Sambhar Lake, in Rajasthan.
 
Shakti Peeth Deoband
It is said that this place was dense forest and was the residence of Devi Durga thousands year ago. So it was known as Devi van or later  became Devi Vandan. According to other sayings, Devi Durga had killed many demons here and was worshiped by many Gods. Devi Kund, an ancient  lake is situated to the east which is to be believed as the place where Durga killed Maha Asur Durg thus a temple of  Bala Sundri is dedicated to Devi Durga. This temple consists a naked statue of Devi Durga.
Guggha Veer
Also known as Jahar Deewan Guggha peer, is a religious place situated along the Gangoh road 5KM to the south west of Saharanpur. Every year  at the time of Shukla Paksh Dashmi in the month of Bhado a large festival (mela) is organized here which represents  Hindu Muslim unity which is popularly known as Mela Ghughal.
 
Nau Gaza Peer
Nau Gaza is the 26 feet long Monument (Mazaar). Nau Gaza Peer has a great religious significance in Saharanpur. It has a 26 feet long Monument (Mazaar). The most peculiar features of this Mazaar are that every time this Mazzar is measured it appeared to be of a different size.
