Jammu and Kashmir Bank works as a universal bank throughout the Jammu and Kashmir. The bank was established on 1st of October 1938 under the letters patent which was issued by Hari Singh, the Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir. The business of the bank was commenced on 4th of July 1939. The status of scheduled bank was acquired by Jammu and Kashmir Bank. The Reserve Bank of India declared the Jammu and Kashmir Bank as ‘A’ class Bank in 1976. The business of the bank is based on the mission to serve to Jammu and Kashmir people with international quality of financial services and solutions to become the super specialist bank in the country. The headquarters of the bank is situated at Srinagar.

Jammu and Kashmir Bank Features
Initially the bank had to face problems to be established. During the independence the two branches of bank fell at other side of LOC at Mirpur and Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Pakistan including the cash and assets. The new identity of the Jammu and Kashmir bank is presented with three coloured regions in square shape. The three square regions are symbol of power and empowerment. These squares contain three colours as green, red and blue. For the Annual Report of 2008 – 2009, the bank won three awards such as:-
• The World’s largest Award programme for Annual Reports at Prestigious LACP 2009 Vision Awards which was organized by American Communications Professionals, a California based League.
• The Bank won the Platinum Award in Commercial Banks for presenting annual revenue up to 10 billion Dollars from Asia Pacific Region
• Jammu and Kashmir received the Silver Award for the category of Most Creative Report throughout all sectors from the Asia Pacific Region.
