I am a US citizen of Indian origin on March 05, 2012 I got a letter from HDFC, SLIC stating that my request for cancellation of my Policy has been accepted and once they receive the original policy document, they would refund the whole amount and it would be credited to my bank account. This I have provided along with proof of bank statement, NEFT form, canceled check etc. This account from which my money was taken by HDFC-SLIC was a NRE account. I do not have any other account. I have been trying for the past 3 years to get the money credited to my account to no avail. Now they want me to provide a NRO account number to deposit funds. I do not have such an account. My funds were transferred from the US in $$ to HDFC. It has been a long and painful process and I still do not have my money. The phone number given at the site is unavailable and the phone number given by Ms. Anju Joseph is incorrect. Very frustrated Rosemary Fernandez.

In response to this HDFC-Life processed a payment and send it. Now the Cheque is at HDFC bank on hold. HDFC-Life have attached a letter Refund of Payment Policy number 1428115', which states that the amount of Rs. 150000 maybe credited to my NRE account as per RBI directives. But the 'Deposit Slip' shows that it is to be deposited into NRO PIS account considering that I do not have an NRO account and I have re-iterated that in several of my emails that this money has to be deposited into my NRE account, why was this done? I cannot believe the inefficiency of the people involved. Rosemary Fernandez.
