Places To See Nainital

Nainital is a very popular holiday resort with boating and yachting on the lake, pony rides around the "Thandi Sadak" and uphill areas and excursions to nearby picnic spots. The Boat Club provides yachts on hire. The rope-way to Snow View peak has become a bog attraction for visitors. Merry joyful crowds can be seen going up and down everyday. During the tourists season, various kinds of cultural programmes are organized regularly. In the evenings, the happy holiday makers flock to the Mall road where restaurants, hotels, clubs, cinemas are located.

Bhimtal Lake: Lake is named after the Pandava brother Bheema, one of the heroes of great epic Mahabharata. Lake is Just 22 km away from Nainital at an altitude of 1,370 m (4,495 ft). Lake has an island with a famous restaurant on it, that offers variety of flavors. At the one end of lake there is a temple complex, the Bhimeshwar it was built in 17th century.

Governor’s House: It is also known as Raj Bhavan built in 1899, which was designed by F.W Stevens in Victorian Gothic domestic Style. Once it was the summer residence of governor of the North West Province, later it became residence for Lieutenant Governor of the United Provinces. Now it is used as a official guest house for the governor of state.

Hanumangarhi: The temple is dedicated to lord Hanuman, located at an altitude 1,951 m (6,401 ft). The place is also known as Hanuman Garh, famous for its sun setting view.

The Jim Corbett National Park: It is one of oldest parks in India named after hunter and conservationist Jim Corbett. Park is at distance of 39 miles from Nainital, contains variety of fauna and flora, wild life including elephant, tiger, Chital, Sambar Deer, Nilgai, Gharial, King Cobra, Muntjac, Wild boar, Hedgehog, common musk shrew (White-toothed shrew), flying fox (pteropus, megabat), Indian Pangolin, and nearly 600 species of birds reside in Park. Forest is also full of Sal, Haldu, Pipal, Rohini and Mango trees, that covers 73% area of park.

Naina Devi Temple: It is located on the northern shore of Naini Lake. The presiding deity of the temple is Maa Naina Devi represented by two Netras or eyes. Flanking Naina Devi are the deities of Mata Kali and Lord Ganesha.

Snow View: It is located on the top of Sher-ka-danda ridge at an altitude of 2,270 m (7,448 ft). One can easily reach there by cable car and can have spectacular view of great Himalaya.

Khurpa Tal: It is popular lake located at the distance of 10 km from Nainital that attracts the tourist from all over India.
