The Essilor came into the existence after the merger of two rival companies these were Essel and Silor. The companies were merged on 1st of January 1972 and renamed as Essilor. Essilor came into India in the year of 1998 via joint venture with the company named SRF Limited and renamed in India as Essilor SRF Optics Private Limited.
