History And Evolution Jalandhar

According to Puranas and Mahabharata, city Jalandhar is named after a demon king who was killed by deity Durga. It is believed that once Jalandhar was the capital of the kingdom of lov, son of Rama. According to yet another version Jalandhar is said to have derived its name from the vernacular term `Jalandhar’ means area inside the water, as the area was between the two rivers Satluj and Beas.
