History Kanpur

It is belived that ctiy Kanpur is founded by the Hindu King Chandel of the erstwhile state of Sachendi. Its present name kanpur came to its existence after long time. Kanpur name was believed to be drive from Lord Krishna's town Kanhiyapur. Gradually it is called Kanhapur by local people later came to be known as Kanpur. Place is also believed to be associated with Karna, a hero of Famous Indian epic Mahabharata.

Kanpur was under the Oudh Subah, one of the 21 Provinces of Mughal Empire during Mughal Period After the death of Auranzeb it came under possession of Nawab of Oudh. Kanpur was one of the major center for First war of Indian Independence in (1857-58). Where first Revolt for Indian Independence broke out and it shook the British Empire. Though revolt was failed yet it opened way for nationalism in india. Under the leadership of Nana Saheb Many insurgents took revolt against British Empire at kanpur. They opened fire and massacred innocents people without any provocation.
