Karimnagar is a fastest growing city in the state of Telangana. The city is located on the banks of Manair River, which is a tributary of the Godavari River. Karimnagar is a hub of various health and educational institutions in the northern districts of Telangana. It is a leading business center, extensively known for Granite and Agro based industries.
The history of the city began in the Old Stone Age around 1,48,000 BC. All archaeological excavation such as Bonkur, Kotilingalu, Pedda and Dhulikatta depicts that the area was once controlled by the Mauryas, Asaf Jahis and Satvahanas. Karimnagar has been selected as one of the hundred cities to be developed as a smart city under the PM Narendra Modi’s flagship Smart Cities Mission.
