The Jaggery Market of Asia Muzaffarnagar

Muzaffarnagar is located in the doab region of Uttar Pradesh. It was established during the Mughal period by Sayyid Jagirdar and Munnawar Ali Khan on the given pargana “Sarvat” by Mughal emperor Sahanjhan. But the history of this region is much older than that. The archeological excavations show that this city is associated with Harrapan culture. The things such as hordes of gold ring like objects and other precious stones confirm that it was the important center of trade during ancient time.
Since then this city has witnessed many historical changes including the 1857 uprising and the freedom struggle of India. This city is the example of fusion of Indo Islamic culture.
Being located in the doab region, Muzaffarnagar is one of the fertile regions of India. It is the hub of jaggery trade because of excessive growth of sugarcane and the largest jaggery market in Asia. It is also termed as the industrial city of Uttarpardesh. Sugar, steel and the paper are the main industries of Muzaffarnagar. It is also the municipal board of Uttar Pradesh.
