Places to Visit Nawanshahr

There are numbers of religious and historical places are situated in Nawanshahr. The religious places are deeply associated with the Sikh Gurus.
Gurudwara Nanaksar
Guru Har Rai rested here while going on the journey from Kartarpur to Kiratpur Sahib. According to another belief this place was visited by Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The Gurudwara was built by Maharaja Ranjit Singh. A beautiful pond is situated in the eastern part of Gurudwara.
 
Gurudwara Charan Kanwal
It was built in the memory of sixth Guru Hargobind Singh Ji by Maharaja Ranjit Singh. This Gurudwara comes under the authority by SGPC. The big pool in front of the Gurudwara which was built by the daughter of Sardar Dhanna Singh and the building of langar was made by Bhai Seva Singh. It is situated in village Jeendowali

Suraj Kund, Rahon
Situated in the south direction, it is considered as the old Sarovar (Pool). There is also a temple Suraj Kund. According to a myth there are only two and a half kunds, from which one is in Rahon, half in Haridwar and one in Nasik in all over India. All these Kunds are linked with Lord Rama.

Roza Sharif Mandali

This Roza was built by Abdulla Shah Kadri, one of the eight sons of a muslim Saint Gospaal. According to belief Baba performed miracle to stop the train here. So the station was named after him as "Baba Abdulla Shah Kadri Railway Station Kultham". It was looked after by the several persons after Baba. Currently it is being looked after by Sai Bhajan Shah Kadri. All the Quawwals and Ghazal artist take part in the fair which is held in June and July.

Baba Balraj Temple Balachaur
Baba Raj Dev who was related with the king of Jaipur's family came here and performed meditation. After his death, his son built a temple here in his memory in 1596. It was visited by Sher Shah Suri when he was going to fight with Humayun.

Kirpal Sagar
This site give the message of religious harmony as the worship place of four religions ( Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian) are made in an oval shaped pool while in between pyramid a common symbol of these religion is under construction.

Shivala Banna Mall
This Shivala is as old as the history of Nawanshahr which is situated next to the office of Municipal Corporation Nawanshahr. This Shivala was built by the Chief Minister of Maharaja Kapurthala, Banna Mall. He also constructed here a temple and a hospital. Free food is given in the hospital.

Sanehi Temple Nawanshahr

It is the splendid temple built in 1865 by the contribution of Pandit Nihal Chand Gautam, Pandit Mool Raj Gautam, Pandit Shri Kant Gautam, Engineer and Pandit Indu Dutt Gautam. It houses the idol of Mata Chintapoorni which was brought from Jaipur. The temple committee organizes the marriage of poor girls every year.
