Ooty is one of the very popular tourist destinations in the southern region. In whole year, thousands of visitors come there. Coimbatore International airport is the nearest airport in the Ooty, which is 96 kilometers away from the town. In Ooty there are three helipads. Udhagamandalam railway station is the nearest railway station in the town, which is connected with Mettupalyam by metre gauge service.
Nilgiri railway was founded by in the year of 1885, which is one of the oldest mountain railways in India. In the year of July 2015 Nilgiri Mountain railway was declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Ooty is also well connected by roads, which is situated in the NH 67. TNSTC (Tamilnadu State Transport Corporation) connects the town in their nearby districts Gudalur, Coonoor and Kotagiri.
