Roorkee is located at 29°52′N 77°53′E / 29.87°N 77.88°E. It is situated on the elevation of 274 meters from sea level. Roorkee is situated 172 km north to New Delhi and located between the rivers Ganges and Yamuna. It is the doorway to the foothills of the Himalaya. Summers arrives in late March and lasted early July comprises the average temperatures around 28oC (83oF). The monsoon season begins in July and remains till October. From November to December is the time of winters which are close to the freezing point due to the city’s position near the Himalayas.
