Places To See In Shimla

This is a great tourist place which is worth visiting. They may intrigue some with their rich historical legacy and for some; they are the perfect places to indulge in some good photography. Shimla is a photographer's paradise and you will find some of the most picture perfect shots over here.

MALL ROAD-THE SHOPPER'S PARADISE: One place that a visitor cannot ignore in Shimla is the Mall road. The busiest commercial area of the Shimla is the Mall Road which is at the heart of the town. Built by the British during the colonial rule in India, the Mall Road was constructed keeping in mind the traffic on this route.

SHIMLA RIDGE: All the cultural activities of Shimla are held in the Ridge. It is situated along the Mall Road, which is the famous shopping center of Shimla. Most major places of Shimla like Lakkar Bazaar, Mall, Scandal Point, Jakhoo hill, etc. are connected through the Ridge.

JAKHU HILL: A must visit place of Shimla, is Jakhu Hill which is a very famous tourist spot. The height of Jakhu Hill is 8000 feet and also the highest point of Shimla. The place, again, has a religious significance according to legend and bears the temple of Lord Hanuman with an impression of His feet engraved on a boulder.

TARA DEVI TEMPLE: This temple is located just 20 km from the Shimla, which is well connected to the city by train, bus and road. There is also and short cut of 5 km to this temple through the forest area. This is a very popular picnic spot which offers a panoramic view of the city.

THE STATUE MUSEUM: This museum is one of the oldest building in Shimla with a great infrastructure which belongs to the British era. This museum was opened in 1947 which showcase the culture and tradition of Shimla. It shows the local handicrafts like wooden items, photographs, which belongs to the Britishers and stone sculptures as well.

VICEREGAL LODGE: The Viceregal Lodge is located at the top of Observatory Hills and was constructed by the British. This brilliant building served as the residence of the Viceroy, Lord Dufferin. It was completed by the year 1888 and it is still well maintained.

SUMMER HILL: This area is located at a height of 1283 meters above the sea level. This fabulous spot is famous for the university of Himachal Pradesh which is located here. It is stated that Mahatama Gandhi used to visit here whenever he comes to Shimla.
