The middle class residential areas with chaotic markets of Paharganj, and a total population of 779,788 (2001
census) North Delhi is the area between Delhi Gate and Kashmere Gate. It has winding lanes bulging with big
wholesale markets, such as the Khari Baoli.
Azadpur Mandi, Jama Masjid, Red Fort, Chandani Chowk and Inter State Bus Terminal are
prominent landmarks. The Adminsitration was divided in three subdivisions i.e. Sadar Bazar, Kotwali
and Civil Lines. Civil line, Model Town and Ashok Vihar are the amongst the posh localities of North Delhi. Some
renowned hospitals in Delhi are Tirath Ram, Aruna Asaf Ali, Hindu Rao, Sant Parmanand, St. Stephens' and
Sushrut Trauma Centre.
