Agartala is well developed and culturally city. The culture of the city is the mixture of Bengali and Tripuri communities which make the culture of the city unique. The people of the Bengali and Tripuri communities together celebrate their traditional festivals with much eagerness. Buisu is the most popular festival of the city, celebrated during the New Year eve. Gajan is another famous festival of the city, which is celebrated in the month of April in the honor of Goddess Laxmi or Mailuma. Apart from these festivals Kharchi festival, Ker festival, Durga Puja, Holi, Diwali, Christmas, Eid, etc. is also celebrated in the city with full of devotion.
Dance is the major part of the lives of both the tribals and non tribals people of Agartala. Bizu is one of the most famed dance forms in the city, which are performed by during the occasional functions and marriage. Apart from these dance forms Lebang Boomani dance, Garia dance, Hai Hak dance, etc. are also very noted in Agartala.
