Food Goa

Rice and Fish curry is the common taste of Goa. There is wide range of dishes that are prepared from fish. Food is cooked in coconut oil, vinegar and pepper give the dish unique taste.

Khatkhate is the popular dish. It is the stew prepared from various vegetables. Besides local flavors, South Indian Food has special place in Goa. Dosa is served in different varities such as Polle, Amboli and Kaibole. Idli is available in varieties of Sannas and Hitt.

In non veg, the pork dishes are quite popular such as Vindaloo, Xacuti, Sorpotel. Large chains of Hotels and restaurant serve multi cuisine food.


Sea Food: Like every coastal area, Goa is rich in sea food. Sea  food is also an identity of cuisine that are served in the form of sea-fruits, fish, prawns, mussels, oysters, crabs, feni, gin and many more. The Pomphret  occasionally called "Plaice", is the expensive dish. Sea food is cooked in curries and Spices that make it lure. Sea food is also served without or low spices. It is cooked by various methods such as frying, grilling or cooked in garlic sauce.

Pickles: Pickle is the accompaniment to the every dish. It enhances the flavor of food. It is sweet, spicy and sour in nature and also the mixture of all. The pickle prepared from Fish is popular which are Mackerel Para Pickel. Prawns balcho is the another famous pickle.
