Introduction Patiala

Patiala is one of the districts of Punjab in northern India, situated around a Qila Mubarak castle. City is store house of Mughal, Rajput and Punjabi cultures, famous for 'peg’ (a measure of liquor) ‘Pagri’, ‘Paranda’, 'Patiala Salwar' (a type of female trousers) and 'Jutti'. A shadow of Patiala's culture and tradition can be seen in its old preserved folk songs and folklore.

Patiala is home town of many famous personalities like cricketers Navjot Sidhu, Mohinder Amarnath, Reetinder Sodhi, Bollywood Stars Jimmy Shregill, Om Puri, Punjabi Singer Harbhajan Mann, Jet Airways Chairman Naresh Goyal and Squadron Leader Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian in space.
