Culture Of Patiala

LANGUAGES: Language widely spoken in Patiala is Punjabi. Hindi and English are only used for Official works.

CUISINES: City is well known for its Makki-ki roti and sarson ka saag, one can easily enjoy from Punjabi food to exotic continental,Chinese, and Thai food in city. Most of the people are fond of nonvegetarian food. Mutton dishes and Tandoori food are two of the most popular Punjabi cuisines throughout the world. Kulfi and Ras Malai are favorite among desserts.

FESTIVALS: Diwali, Holi, Dushera, Gur Purab, and Baisakhi are the main festivals of Patiala. Except these, One more festival that is only celebrated in Patiala is 'Patiala Heritage Festival'.

PATIALA HERITAGE FESTIVAL: It was started by Patiala Heritage Society in 2003, since it is organized every year in the month of February. Festival is also best platform for music and art lovers. Craft Mela is main attraction of this festival that lasts for ten day long, fair brings to the city the artistry, workmanship and the outstanding craftsmanship in a multiplicity of handicraft items from all across the country.

BAISAKHI: Baisakhi is one of the most significant festivals of Punjab, falls on April 13th. Baisakhi has special significance for Sikhs as on this day in 1699, their tenth Guru Gobind Singh Ji organized the order of the Khalsa.
