According to census 2001, the population of Rohtak is 9, 40,128. The language here is spoken in different dialects such as Haryanvi and Jaatu. Hindi is the official language of the region. Hindus are in majority. The main occupation of the people is agriculture. The 83 % of the total area is under cultivation.
