Vadodara is a graceful city of palaces, parks, temples and museums and considered by many as the cultural capital of Gujarat. Once the capital of the "Gaekwads", the former rulers of Vadodara, it is also known as Baroda and rises from the banks of River "Vishwamitri". Vadodara is also the industrial capital of Gujarat. Actually the term Vadodara means the" City of Banana Trees".

Vadodara's present architecture is gift of great administator Maharaja Sayajirao. He was great lover of music,art and architecture. Vadodara is well known city for its architect and culture. Once the city was under the control of Chalukyas,Guptas,Solankis the Sultans of Delhi. During Mughal period, it came under possession of Mughals before passing on to the Marathas.

As mentioned which industries are prevelant in Vadodara ? And which companies operate in those Industries ? This information has to be mentioned.Similarly which are those famous buildings of architecture this also must be mentioned. Simply stating that it is a cultural capital and an industrial hub wont suffice.

Vadodara origin The name of the city was mentioned in the charter of 812. The charter clarify that the city existed beside the town named Ankottaka, a small town on the western bank of Vishvamitri river. The name of the city was Vadapadraka. Due to severe floods in the region in 600 AD, the inhabitants of the city to move to the eastern side of river Vishvamitri. The residents of Vadapadraka are said to have settled in a village called Vatpatrak. It is at this site that the city of Vadodara came into existence. During the 10th century, Vadapadraka replaced Ankottaka.
