city is situated in Ahmednagar district which is the largest district in Maharastra state. It is situated in the central part of the state surrounded by the districts like Nashik Aurangabad, Beed, Osmanabad, Solapur and Thane. It is drained by the two tributaries of of Krishna River, Godavari and Bhima.
