Earlier this district was also known as Abdullapur, but after 1st November, 1989 when it came into
existence the name was changed to Yamuna Nagar. When partition occurred in India many people who
come from Punjab and Pakistan opt for this district to be there new home town, which added the more
population to the small village where population was very less. Model town in Yamuna Nagar is the
area where refugees opt to reside after the partition.
