Art and Culture Mathura

The art  and culture of Mathura can be easily seen in society, architecture and festivals.It was the main center of art in ancient India . The two most renowned schools of arts were established in Mathura, the Gandharva school and the Mathura school of Arts.  
Some timeless and valuable paintings and sculpture of Mathura add glory to the art of India. The sculptures of Hindus deities and Jain Tirthankars are the magnificient art work. Several other forms of arts are the finest examples of  Indo Greek art form. Mathura was also the seat of learning of Vaishnava-Buddhist.
Coming to culture, it is deeply associated to Lord  Krishna. The whole land seems to tell the story of Lord Krishna life. Mathura is a land of the Braj culture which is practiced through many ways.  

Sanjhee
It is the colourful art of decorating the ground with flowers.

Rasiya
This is the folk song that describes the love story of  Lord Krishna and Radha

Raaslila
It is the famous theatre and the dance form of Indian folkfare. It is believed that Lord Krishna danced with rasas or gopis on the bank of the Yamuna.

Charkula
It  is a  folk dance of the Braj. A woman holds the deepaks on her head and balances it on the song of menfolk.
