Religious places Uttrakhand

Char Dham
Yamnotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath are four sacred places known as the “Char Dham”, These places are the centre of mighty devotion of Hindus. The journey to these dhams is considered to vanish all the sins of life. The Char Dham Yatra is started from the West to East, which means the Char Dham Yatra should start from Yamunotri, then advance to Gangotri, Kedarnath and finally finish at Badrinath.

Panch Kedar

These are five temples associated to the Lord Shiva. Each temple is situated in the valley of Kedamath valley (3584 m), Madmaheshwar Valley (3289 m), Tungnath Valley (3810 m), Rudranath Valley (2286 m) and Palpnath Valley (2134 m).

Yatras

It is large procession of devotees carried to the famous shrines. Char Dham Yatra, Panch Badri Yatra are the famous Yatras.

Surkanda Devi Temple
It is located at  altitude of 3,030 mts. above sea level near village Kaddukhal, the temple of Surkanda Devi is 40 kms. and 24 kms.  from Mussoorie and  Chamba respectively. The grand local fair is the attraction.

Kunjapuri temple

It is positioned at  altitude of 1645 mts . and offers a splendid view of the Himalayan peaks, Rishikesh, Haridwar and the Doon valley. Navratras celebration is the main attraction during Dusshera in October.

Naina Devi

It is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths in India.

Other Temples

The other famous temples of Uttrakhand are Mansa Devi, Jwala Devi,
Chandrabadnee Devi, Dhari Devi ,Garjiya Devi Manila Devi, Sitabani Devi ,Varahi Devi, Purnagiri Devi, Mahakali Devi, Parvati-Gaurikund Devi, Kalichaur Devi, Pashan Devi, Jhoola Devi, Upat Kalika Devi, Kamakshya Devi

Haridwar

It is the sacred place. Temples, shrines and ghats are the enchanting features of the city.
That’s why it is known as the Gateway to God. Places like Har ki Paori, the arti which is perfomed at evening at Har Ki Paori, Shakti Temples, Bharat Mata Mandir, Sapta Rishi Ashram, Ramkrishan Mission, Gurukul Kangri University, Shanti Kunj, Pantajali Yog Peeth, Kankal and Pandas are worth to visit. It is the place where Kumbh mela is held every 12 years.
 
Rishikesh

 
It is known as the dwelling of sages and saints.  Perfoming of Aarti, Lakshman Jhula, Ram Jhula , Triveni Ghat, ashrams are the must see places.
 
Sri Hemkunt Sahib

It is the place where Guru Gobind Singh had mediated. It is surrounded by seven snow capped peaks which are reflected in the bluish water of Hemkund Lake.
